Classes & Presentations
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center (WVCI) physicians and staff hosts a series of free presentations for cancer patients and their families.
The series, "Living with Cancer," is open to the public. Pre-registration is not required. Physicians and other WVCI health care providers will speak on a host of different topics. Attendees will learn more about treatment processes, coping strategies, resources and research.
Classes will be held in six-week sessions from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday through Aug. 4 at WVCI's Eugene location at 520 Country Club Road. The session dates and topics are:
- Tuesday, October 13, "Cancer: Myths and Realities," with Dr. Joseph Fiorillo, MD.
- Tuesday, October 12, "Coping with Cancer: Strategies for Living! Where to Look for Help," with Gretchen Matsuoka, M.Ed.
- Tuesday, October 27, "Chemotherapy: Today's Treatment, Tomorrow's Hope," with James Fitzgibbons, MD.
- Tuesday, November 3, "Radiation Therapy: High Tech Cancer Treatment," with Haidy Lee, MD.
- Tuesday, November 10, "Healthy Nutrition for Cancer Patients: Separating Fact from Fiction," with Shelly Kokkeler, clinical dietician
- Aug. 4, "Search for the Cure: New Hope in the Battle Against Cancer" with Michael Monticelli, MD.
