Jeff P. Sharman, MD, is a board-certified Medical Oncologist at WVCI. He enjoys practicing in a rapidly developing field that can offer new hope to patients.

"I enjoy taking care of patients facing difficult, frightening medical conditions such as cancer," he says. "Advances in medical oncology are occurring because of our rapidly expanding understanding of the causes of cancer."

Dr. Sharman received a bachelor's degree in cellular and molecular biology, graduating cum laude in 1996. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Sharman was awarded distinction for his studies in internal medicine. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Harvard's Massachusetts General Hospital and completed a clinical fellowship in hematology and medical oncology from Stanford University with post-doctoral research in translational molecular therapeutics. At Stanford, his research into new drugs for lymphoma gained international attention and received unique recognition from the American Society of Hematology.

Dr. Sharman is a member of the US Oncology Hematologic Malignancies Research Committee and has an active roll in clinical trial development for WVCI. He has a particular interest in the care of patients with cancers of the blood and lymphatic system. He enjoys using personalized medicine -- determining unique molecular characteristics of the patients and their cancers to provide the most effective treatments with the fewest toxicities.

Dr. Sharman's interests include cycling, water-skiing, hiking, international travel, scuba diving and jazz.
