Michael Andrew Monticelli, MD, is a Medical Oncologist at WVCI. He has been with WVCI since 1998.
"I chose oncology because the science is evolving and intriguing -- we are constantly looking for newer and better treatments," he says. "Oncology also offers a chance to build relationships with patients and their families over time. It truly is a field in which both knowledge and a personal touch can make a tremendous difference in a patient's life."
After earning his degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Monticelli completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He then did his medical oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado.
Dr Monticelli has served as Chief of Medicine at Mckenzie-Willamette hospital, Medical Director of Cascade Hospice and is currently on the board of Cascade Health Solutions.
"I often collaborate with colleagues in this community, Portland, and the rest of the country to find the best treatment possible for a patient," he says. "Oncology is a rapidly changing field, and I am proud to be part of a team that isn't just following standards but helping to establish them."
Dr Monticelli spends most of his spare time with his wife and four children. He also finds time for road biking and following Oregon sports.
