Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center Opens New Location at RiverBend

New Web site offers enhanced patient resources

Eugene, Ore. – The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center (WVCI) has opened the doors and began treating patients at its new location on the RiverBend campus in Springfield on July 20. WVCI has moved its Springfield office on Marcola Road, as well as some staff and services from its Eugene office on Country Club Road, into the new location on the fifth floor of RiverBend Pavilion, 3377 RiverBend Drive in Springfield. WVCI will continue to operate at 520 Country Club Road in Eugene and at 1845 Highway 126, Suite H, in Florence.

The institute’s new 21,000-square-foot facility houses four medical oncologists, associated services and an expanded clinical research program for cancer patients throughout the region. The facility includes a chemotherapy area with comfortable and calming private and group treatment spaces with views of the Coburg Hills. The Country Club Road office also welcomes new cancer-fighting technology including Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT).

“This is an exciting time for our patients and staff,” says Dr. David Fryefield, WVCI medical director. “As the number of people afflicted with cancer unfortunately grows, our new RiverBend facility provides the space we need to provide the best possible care, as well as to investigate new treatments for cancer patients. And our proximity to Sacred Heart Medical Center is very convenient for our patients and medical partners in comprehensive cancer care.”

In addition to the new RiverBend Pavilion facility, WVCI has a new virtual home as well. The redesigned WVCI Web site at www.wvcancerinstitute.com offers enhanced patient resources, easier navigation and helpful cancer treatment information for patients, their families and referring physicians. Information on the latest clinical trials and free educational sessions will be updated regularly. More enhancements are planned for the months ahead.

Since 1997, WVCI has provided state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care. It is the only full-service cancer center in the region.
